The Huffington story corrects the original AP story. The move to support "faith-based" federal money is a move that will alienate much of his base. It flies in the face of the strong separation of church and state that was inherited from Madison. State money for churches corrupts the church and corrupts the state. Centuries of religious wars in Europe provide the history for why churches should be separate from state armies. Corrupt, unconstitutional, and pro-war. The article does not address those factors. We need to elect a strong congress to keep such bad ideas from continuing. And, if you think churches are not going to proselytize while using tax dollars, there is a fourth of July picnic for you in Jonestown. Free Koolaid.
