A not-so-public man: the private character of John McCain

Of McCain's four sons, three have gone the military route. One was a Navy pilot like his father, one enlisted in the Marines at age 17 and recently completed a tour in Iraq, and one is completing his education at the Naval Academy (raising the strong possibility that, for the first time in half a century, the United States will have a president with a son at war). This is pure political propaganda. Effective propaganda is not the same as outright lies. More often it is selection of truths that support the agenda of the propagandist. This article is by a person who only wants to think happy thoughts about Israel, and unhappy thoughts about all of its enemies. I think the word "sycophant" describes him best. He practically worships McCain for raising seven children, but he doesn't mention the shabby and cruel treatment of his first wife. He praises the McCains for saving two children who were at death's door, but doesn't seem to think than anyone who has such deep resources as they do, wouldn't do the same thing under the circumstances. In spite of that show of compassion for two desperate children, it isn't mentioned that he apparently thinks its perfectly OK to go to war for oil security while killing hundreds if not thousands of innocent, healthy children in Iraq, and now Iran. It doesn't say anything about his abhorrence of "entitlements" for desperately poor children in this country which would pay for medical care for them. It seems to be a penchant of the super-rich to reach into the cauldron of world poverty and draw out one or two lucky winners who are then treated to lives of privilege and plenty while the others in the pot are left to stew. This writer is the kind that, if he wrote a piece about Obama, it would be all negative, and it would probably be about policy. His implication is clear, McCain=good, Obama=bad, for Israel that is. Unfortunately, there is no rationale in the article to convince a person who is actually looking for guidance.
