I woudln't consider this good journalism, but it had value in that it informed me of a hearing which got no coverage in the mainstream media and only one prominent story in the general (as opposed to GLBT oriented) alternative media, a well-written opinion piece in the (Madison, WI) Capital Times. --See Deb Price's "Congress learns ABCs of transgender bias." http://www.madison.com/tct/opinion/column/293986), which I would not have found without reading this piece. The author provides a summary of the testimony and an opinion about the politics involved in getting the hearing, but is a bit geared towards insiders and is derogatory of the opposition, which while understandable, does not help persuade the general reader. I cannot agree with the author's self rating of straight "fives." As the writer is a new member, I would encourage continued reviews of other sources and writers and a more nuanced review of one's own work.
