WaPo's Richard Cohen: McCain's Flip-Flops Matter Less Than Obama's Because McCain Was POW

So how far will the pundits go to protect McCain's reputation as a "maverick" -- and how far will they go to explain away his many reversals and flip-flops? The answer could help decide the presidential race. Judging by Richard Cohen's column in today's Washington Post, the early returns are not encouraging. Good journalism because it's an antidote to the lousy journalism that people like Richard Cohen (and several of the op-ed gang at WaPo) embody. Cohen's column is as false as McCain's so-called record and his maverick mask. Exposing these lies for what they are is a colossal ongoing project; it's good to see TPM contributing to the effort.

This opinion piece has minimal journalistic merit. The author uses half the space to reprint part of another opinion piece. There is no sourcing of new information, no effort at balance or context. You may like the opinion of the author but that does not make it journalism.

Typical McCain "journalist supporter" story! Flashing McCain POW years as the crown jewels of a "known commodity" to conclude that his core principles are better than Obama's and he can be excused of issues flip flopping is a false argument that leads to a false conclusion. True McCain has refused his captors to be repatriated, true that McCain has shown pride and honor to his captors but this doesn't diminish Obama's character and principles and make McCain error proof candidate that can hide behind his POW record. Obviously Obama can't match his record but can match his character and surpass it, he has an entire life ahead of him. Speaking of McCain character check out the story in Daily Mail from "My research" links.
