FDA widens tomato inquiry

The salmonella investigation headed to farms in Florida and Mexico, as the number of people sickened by tomatoes rose to 552.

The Food and Drug Administration said Friday it is heading to farms in Florida and Mexico, searching for the potential source of salmonella-tainted tomatoes that have now sickened 552 people....

There is a lot of informaiton in this update, but it appears to be written to somewhat minimize the blame for Florida agricultural produceers. There is no historical context of why we are have food-born diseases related to produce.
