This is one of the problems people cite with "alternative" media. While McCain admits her addiction problems, the story that she stole the drugs from a charity has been widely talked, and almost as widely refuted online. So, while the author is right that this has received little mainstream attention, it might be because those journalists are required to check their facts--except, of course, for Fox News where they can repeat any lie that comes out of Dick Cheney's mouth and leave an important word (really) out of Michelle Obama's quote, endlessly. More rumor than good journalism. But the point of article was not necessarily about the rumor, but whether the Dems should use this sort of personal info about a candidate's wife and attack her with it. It is what the McCains are doing against the Obamas.
