Informative report about an important development for the largely citizen-powered Huffington Post. The report is fair, and based on factual evidence, but doesn't quote independent sources or provide a lot of context to help us interpret the significance of this event. A very worthwhile read.

The article reported what was happening, but very little of the why. The picture of Huffington speaking at a Future of Journalism event leads the reader to expect the article to shed some light on why the Huffington Post is expanding to local markets. What can the HuffPost do that local online edition of local newspapers can't do as well, and what does that say about the future of journalism?

The Huggington move into local news is interesting, it remains to be seen whether it becomes a major source. The article does not mention whether other sites have gone in a similar direction.
