The Associated Press: SKorea: NKorea seeks recognition as nuclear state

SEOUL, South Korea — North Korea is insisting on direct talks with the United States in an attempt to obtain recognition as a nuclear state, Seoul's top diplomat said Friday, warning that the North's atomic bombs are intended to target South Korea.

Clearly shows the North's hopes for being a nuclear power in the world, also shows that the UN sanctions are having an effect.

I hope we agree to talk to the North one on one and tell them yet again that we will not allow them to become a power, but not make offers like the last time (as we have stated we will not do this) only to be duped.

State Department spokesman Philip Crowley said Thursday that the U.S. will “make some judgments in the very near future” on the bilateral talks offer after consultations with other countries.
