Maj. Gen. Antonio Taguba declares that Bush's team committed war crimes? That's an amazing accusation coming from a man who devoted his entire life to service to his country. This should be front page news. As I said before, McClatchy was doing the hard reporting on Iraq before it was it was popular to do so. I note again that not only is this report well-sourced, but as always, the reporter asks the Administration for their response. And as always, they deny that they ever tortured anyone. But this time, their accuser is retired Maj. Gen. Antonio Taguba, who did the original Abu Ghraib investigation for the army. This is a difficult subject to write about. As a vietnam veteran, I remember a time when the United States military was held to a higher standard of behavior. It's clear from the testimony reported in this article that under the Bush administration, this standard was allowed to slip. The Mclatchy team is to be commended for bringing bad behavior to the light of day.
