Also interesting is the percentage of the world's consumption of cement that China took up in 2007 (50%) compared to 2004 (42.5%); some of this can no doubt be due to preparation for the Olympics, but that surely cannot not be all of that growth can it? Full Story »

The charts are interesting and the links provided are needed because they graphs are labeled incorrectly. The USGS study is for cement produced not used as the graph indicates. What countries may be exporting and importing are not shown except for the US which consumes more cement than what is produced. Interesting to read about the coal consumption used to produce the huge amount of cement produced.
