As Congress gears up to fund another year of war and occupation in Iraq and Afghanistan, it is also readying a nearly half-billion-dollar aid package that would initiate a Colombia-like drug war in Mexico. This is a story that has gotten little coverage elsewhere, and is another example of the United States' reflexive use of military means to fight intractable problems.

It is astounding when you learn how much is never covered by the main media. Usually without the internet, the only way we would learn about anything really newsworthy is from people traveling abroad. What they would see &/or read that was never covered in the U.S. The US media is getting progressively worse. It seems the independent media is the only access we have to learn the facts. The main media are driven by ego and an eye for the Pulitzer.

This is an interesting article that will never see light of day in our mainstream news, unfortunatly. Our columbia drug interdiction has been so succesfull that now Bushco will enrich Blackwater & others with another 1.5 Billion. What a waste.

Great article, shows how much W. is into playing "control the world", does not surprise me in the least. Lining the pockets of the rich and keeping the little guy down.
