John McCain's Chilling Project for America

John McCain has long been a major player in a radical militaristic group driven by an ideology of global expansionism and dominance attained through perpetual, pre-emptive, unilateral, multiple wars. The credo of this group is "the end justifies the means," and the end of establishing the United States as the world's sole superpower justifies, in its estimation, anything from military control over the information on the Internet to the use of genocidal ... Despite the length, Cohen's arguments are slender and unconvincing. For one thing, given McCain's history of inconsistent support for just about everything, I have a hard time believing he's been firmly behind any group that hasn't given him money. That explains his telecom immunity stance much better than membership in PNAC.

chilling story, some of which has come to pass. Conspiricy is so large as to seem absurd, maybe that is the genius of it. Most Americans would write this off but then who would have believed that the USA would condone secret prisons ,torture, suspension of Habeas Corpus in all a interesting story

"McCain has accordingly been a foot soldier for PNAC from its inception, and, although this organization is no longer in existence, its ideology and its signatories (many of whom now serve as advisers to the McCain presidential campaign) are still very much active." The article presents a much clearer picture of McCain's massive connections to the PNAC than I had been aware of. This is a good research and digging piece of journalism that should provoke further coverage and discussion.

PNAC doesn't support the Constitution but seeks to trash it and for that reason alone, I couldn't support a Neocon like McCain.

This story is generally accurate but does not explain the real story behind the Wolfowitz memo and PNAC. Wolfowitz's memo advocated overthrowing Saddam and gave four principal reasons: -- it would insure U.S. access to oil; -- Iraq would provide us bases in the Middle East; -- this was unfinished business from the 1991 Gulf War; and, -- it would help defend Israel. In essence, if taken at face value, Wolfowitz was proposing establishing a colony in Iraq, more than a century after the age of colonialism was dead. On the other hand, discounting the part about making Iraq a colony and stealing its oil, what you have left is the goal of defending Israel. Coincidently, that is what PNAC was about. At various points it ... More »

This is an excellent piece well researched the author lays out the grand design as envisioned by pnac brain trusts and signed onto by John McCain. This viewpoint has proven disastrous for our country. More of the same would surely do us in.

This opinion piece has minimal journalistic merit. It reads like an attack ad from the Obama camp. There is no effort to source the McCain side, and outright lies such as "his suggestion that the war with Iraq might last 100 years " make this one of the worst hate pieces we have yet seen. Joe McCarthy never did it this well.

I have never paid much attention to this group of war criminals, but I'm not surprised that McCain is a member. I moved to Arizona in 1973, five years or so before carpetbagging John came bopping along trying to hook a wealthy heiress to a beer distributing company and for all those years I have never heard many good things about this guy. He is a hypocrite and one of the worst politicians ever. A lot of Crazy George's ideas and policies were stolen from McCain. He puts himself first no matter what and couldn't care less about what happens to ordinary Americans. He's never made much sense, but he appears to be even worse lately. His psychiatric records were never released this last time around and it is obvious he is either ... More »
