This opinion piece works because it goes against the trends in fuel-crisis reporting: it features an auto dealer who explains that higher gas prices are an opportunity for the U.S. to finally kick the petroleum habit. It is a pro-higher fuel-prices editorial with much big picture context to explain why. Since it is an opinion piece, it doesn't have to necessarily acknowledge alternative viewpoints. The reporter is the WSJ editor reporting on the auto industry, and he mentions 6 car companies working on hybrid or electric car models which will be soon available ... only if the price of gas stays high.
