"If you go through his policy proposals, he's basically arguing that Iran ought to surrender before we are prepared to engage them, and, since it is highly unlikely they are about to do that, and since it is unacceptable to John McCain that Iran has nuclear weapons, we are walking down a path toward inevitable conflict." In an article not overly favorable to John McCain the writer uses McCains own words delivered as a speech to the AIPAC convention. The article gave a good number of examples of McCain's opinions concerning Iran and the continued justifications for oppression of the Palestininas, as well as his hawkish views concerning starting an unprovoked war on the people of Iran all in an effort to sound like he is supporting the Israelis in front of a Jewish audience.

John McCain has positioned himself in line with the leadership of AIPAC. However, these views are not in line with current Israeli leadership. Lobe emphasizes a recent survey that shows 6 out of 10 Americans favor presidential meetings with "leaders of foreign countries considered enemies of the United States” showing that McCain’s views are also not in line with the views of most Americans. Another point that Lobe makes is that the scenario mapped out by John McCain at AIPAC sets up a situation that will make it impossible to ... More »
