Veterans group to launch attacks on John McCain

McCain often cites his service in the military as evidence of his dedication to and support of his fellow veterans. But when some of these groups were crediting the two presidential candidates for their support of important issues to veterans, McCain came up short.

It is clearly fair to question McCain's commitment to the veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan based on his current votes and policies, in light of his self described "war hero" status. So in that sense, the author does describe the current veterans' opposition to McCain's policies. The Vietnam Veterans Against McCain, while apparently distasteful to the author, may provide valuable insight into McCain's character. It remains to be seen, however whether the public will learn the true level of McCain's complicity in the collaboration with North Vietnam while a POW. Because McCain's recent commercials seem to make an issue of his military service, all aspects of that service needs to be examined.
