Veterans group to launch attacks on John McCain

I learned a lot from this article. I've criticized McCain for not supporting a generous version of a new GI Bill, as well as for his unstinting support of each Bush budget request for Iraq and his '100 years' casual-seeming comment. As a former military officer, I have nothing but the highest respect for McCain's conduct as a POW, especially his refusing special treatment by his captors as his father was CINCPAC at the time of his captivity. I also knew some groups opposed to McCain in general were spreading ugly rumors about his mental stability after being subjected to torture. But while Vietnam Veterans against McCain allege he cooperated extensively with his captors in propaganda efforts against the United States and its military (no substantiation given; no indictation the reporter sought it out), Jensen then pivots to note the animus towards McCain mainly stems from his actions in the POW/MIA investigations and his role in normalization of US-Vietnam relations. Jensen opines 'it is a shame' this Swift-boating of McCain is taking place, and has written a piece that hopes to pre-empt the momentum these charges gained against Kerry. Fair and challenging.
