This story isn't really a story - it is an excerpt of the speech. It is precisely the excerpt that she fulfills the title of the story. Inasmuch as she has suspended her campaign, exiting is a useful synonym. Since the majority of the speech was a reminiscence, of which I was not at all impressed - I'm glad that CNN framed the excerpt in this manner. Had they included the entire speech, but titled in the same manner - the tenor of my review would be different.

Surely, nothing beats "video verite." I actually watched this speech on CSPAN because I appreciate the message in the film itself, sans commentary, yet I can also, likewise, appreciate Candy Crowley and David Gergen, to be sure. This was an outstanding speech, in fact, so tremendous that I wondered if Ted Sorenson had been summoned to Washington this past week. I was waiting for an exhortation to 'ask what your country can do for you.' To Sen. Clinton's credit, she delivered it with warm eloquence, grace under pressure, and heartfelt passion. One never had a sense of forced words or phrases.It spoke to the glass ceiling for women in America, now shattered--or cracked-- by her candidacy, and it was heartwarming to see the dads ... More »
