This article is very matter of fact as it is very focus on a singular event - that being John McCain's own words. What I like about the article is that it does Not shade the words, nor offer any protracted view. It is concise report - detailing a matter of fact citing a the Senator's own words. In the absence of the entire context of his speech, which is available, the quotes were honest, representative of his views and devoid of opinion by either commentary, exploitive editing of quotes attributed to him or maliciously positioning the NYT article and accompanying quote.

This is an important, complex topic which needs quite a bit of background. It does show that McCain is not willing to address it seriously either.
