This is simply not good journalism. This atricle is pure specualtion. There are hundreds of not thousands of people who could equal or exceed the accuracy of this article with all just guessing. It serves no journalistic purpose to write this.

Chris has labeled all of this as his opinion. His story does a good job of listing the considerations that will go into the decision. He also elaborates on Obama's decision and the overtones relating to his executive and leadership abilities. Useful input.

Ah, pundit speculation. It's a great sport. Too bad none of these guys--print, online, television--have to face consequences for getting it wrong. I would not (usually), however, put columns such as this one in the category of entertainment. Picking a VP is important. And none of us have any hard information. After reading the first few links that might have led to sources and reading the list of potential running mates I see a decided lack of sources for any on that list. The only saving quality for this article is its highlighting the fact that any guesses of who might be Obama's pick are pure conjecture.

Sources are quite indefinite. Basically informed gossip. Horse race and very little on issues.

The article provides too little information about any candidate to get a good feel. The material presented is factually correct, but it only raises the question, "Why did McCain change position?" It makes no attempt to to provide any answer or try to determine if the question is not yet answerable. In the stats section the stats I used in some categories came only from the short part of the article that deals with McCain
