What's with all the public outbursts?

There are plenty of theories about the recent incidents of rudeness involving Kanye West, Serena Williams and Rep. Joe Wilson. Some worry it's the manifestation of a deepening social dysfunction.

Some say it reflects a general collapse of manners, rooted in the anti-authoritarian strains of the late 1960s. Some offer a psychological explanation: that such outbursts reveal the person beneath the mask of a public persona. Some see an element of racial animus at work. Full Story »

A mediocre story, though it does present several different ideas as to why there have been a spate of public outbursts by celebrities/leaders.

I believe this is good journalism because this author does a great job of linking modern to history. The author notes, that ever since the Vietnam War, people have have instinctively changed which has had a huge affect on manners and interpersonal relationships. With public outbursts like Kanye West and Senator Wilson, it is extremely apparent that society has taken an attitude adjustment for the worse. This article does a great job of bringing up key points as to why this is happening and how sociologists feel it is affecting society as a whole and how it can be changed or prevented from becoming even more rude.

I think that this is just okay journalism. I find it interesting how the author was able to combine entertainment, politics and sports to write a story but i felt the piece could have been written better. It related an issue in todays scoiety to a greater picture of life and manners yet did not provide much facts besides the actual incidents that occurred and a few quotes. Other than it lacking an interesting syntax and creative writing style, i thought the topic was well thought out.
