Obama expects GOP attack on patriotism

Republicans' only option is to paint Democrat as 'very risky choice'

A day after he clinched the Democratic presidential nomination, Sen. Barack Obama said Wednesday that he expected an organized Republican attack on his integrity and patriotism because "it's very hard for them to talk about where they want to take the country."

Story is an interview with Obama with him projecting what the attacks will be about that he may face in the upcoming election. There will be attacks against Obama that will not be based on his record or experience and he is getting ready to defend himself. It would be nice if the election focused on issues since we are faced with huge problems and not on unsubstantiated attacks that the media will parrot.

This story out of MSNBC - generally pro-Obama - doesn't tell us anything we don't know already about the sliming techniques of the post Reagan GOP. What saddens me is not that the Swift Boat techniques are still employed, it is that they are still effective. Reminds me of P.T. Barnum. A poor commentary on the lack of interest by so many Americans in obtaining accurate information about our country and our world. It is not a crime to be a political troglodyte, but it is a crime to be a political ignoramus -- a crime for which we all do the time.
