Excellent story transcending the typically unhelpful "this good, that bad" language surrounding domestic violence (I've always found that to be a strange phrase--like the violence is qualitatively different from that of the European sort). Analyzes problematic language to show how the wrong message can accidentally be sent by the media.

I am the Managing Editor of this publication. Jackson Katz advocates for a bold, logical and new lens for public and media discourse around violence and rape. But he does more than that. Katz proposes, creates and institutes new ways to educate and inform young people about gendered violence. The piece is an extremely worthwhile read for its exploration of how we discuss violence and how the media reports on violence as well.
