Underwhelming is a good word to describe McCain's first outing after the Dems had a presumptive nominee. The contrast between the ennui of McCain's crowd and the electricity of Obama's was astonishing.

The short article appears to be a McCain supporter bemoaning McCain's speech. "Rightly brag of his support for the surge" and "reason to claim he is not running for George W. Bush's third term" tend to identify a person who has drunk a little of the Kool Aid. His impressions do have a little life, however.

This is an opinion piece. It points out some problems McCain has in being himself. Bad public speaker, old, unable to look like an agent for change next to Obama (who is an agent for change). Standard stuff. Entirely fair comment. Not balanced or intended to be.
