This story is analysis of McCain's announced new interest in arms control. Better than the MSM, which usually only regurgitates campaign press handouts, the writer provides useful context to evaluate the headlines. Would have been stronger is sourced a bit more widely.

It is hard to label this strictly as journalism since it is written as an opinion piece, but as a column it is fine. The author is obviously not convinced McCain believes his own words and instead fancies them as pragmatic presidential speak. The writer starts the column with McCain's words and follows it up with his voting history clearing stating his counter argument. While this is fine for a column it doesn't have objectivity an issue like this deserves like more of McCain's speech or his future plans for disarmament.
