Generals defend Rumsfeld

Several retired generals who worked with Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld, including a former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, yesterday decried calls for the secretary's resignation from other retired officers.

This is very one-sided and does not present the story of the attack on Rumsfield by 5 generals that the generals cited in the article are defending against. It says nothing about the issues they raised about the planning and conduct of the Iraq war.

Stakeholders were 5:1 supportive of Rumsfeld. Two paragraphs of 2-pg article devoted to Rumsfeld's critics. No probing analysis of his critics' charges or reasoning.
