While the title has been changed on the site, I am posting this story with the original title "Leave BP Alone" that came with today's online publication as the top story on FORBES.com today. The authors make the laissez-faire argument for BP, and relates the possible impact of the current oil spill on the future of oil drilling to the Three Mile Island's impact on nuclear energy - but I don't believe they make a convincing case at all.

I suppose the question is this: Opinion journalism can take a biased position and still be good journalism if it causes the reader to think. Right? But does this article measure up? I don't think it does. There are accidents, as the author points out, and then there are ACCIDENTS! This is pure "deregulation" propaganda. Why not have adequate government regulation to protect American's natural resources as well as, free enterprise. Then everyone wins.

This is most definitely not quality journalism. It's simply a rehash of the justifications free-market true believers use whenever the private sector really screws up and government fails to see it coming.
