A news analysis that is really an opinion piece. Still, it's valuable because its implicit message is that voters have caught on to the Rovian tactics of 2004--swift boating, lying, creating false news stories, focusing on phony issues, diversions like gay marriage, etc. The question is whether ultra conservatives have also caught on to the fact that such tactics will boomerang back onto them. Knowing ultra conservatives--no. The article also gives us another ultra conservative code word: negotiating ="appeasement."

This article contains changes of politics and journalsim. I believe that main journalism is favored less than the president and congress. The GOP have found out that using negative ads can not save their congressional candidates and will not help their presidential candidate.

Golly! All these media pundits this piece quotes must have heard a different response from Obama than I did. Don't get me wrong, I voted for the guy. But he backed down a lot more than I'd have liked when he said he wouldn't negotiate with Hamas. While the Bush administration has labeled them as terrorists, they were legally elected. So, while the author has noted some valid shifts, the carefully chosen viewpoints he cites seem more like media spin than real evidence of any true political shifts.
