A somewhat weak and biased article with little hard research other than an interpretation of election results and exit polls--not a very accurate source of data. In America race and gender are always factors. The unknown is how much. The other unknown is whether the outrage the majority of Americans have about ultra conservatism's utterly failed governance is great enough to overcome racism and gender bias.

Although this story has merit, it seems a little biased towards Hillary. This story sounds like it was written by one of HIllary's campaign managers. Racism is a fact of life, but it seems like in recent days his connections to his racist pastor seem to matter more than his actual race. The fact that people are now associating him with a racist makes them less likely to ignore his color. This issue was not discussed at all in the article. HOwever, I think this factor has more to do with his recent poll decline than his actual race.
