McCain, Huckabee and the Evangelicals

An element of the Christian community is not reconciled to McCain's candidacy but instead regards the prospective presidency of Barack Obama in the nature of a Biblical plague visited upon a sinful people. These militants look at former Baptist preacher Huckabee as "God's candidate" running for president in 2012. The Prince of Darkness weighs in with a fascinating column, reporting that extreme right-wing evangelicals would just as soon see Barack Obama elected in order to pave the way for Mike Huckabee in 2012, even though Huckabee is thought to be genuinely supporting John McCain. Some of these evangelicals go so far as to see Obama as a plague prophesied by the Bible. Sourcing is minimal, and the best stuff comes from unnamed sources. Interesting if true, as they say.
