Obama Needs a History Lesson

In defending his stated intent to meet with America's enemies without preconditions, Sen. Obama said: "I trust the American people to understand that it is not weakness, but wisdom to talk not just to our friends, but to our enemies, like Roosevelt did, and Kennedy did, and Truman did."

This is an unemotional, well-written opinion piece taking on both Obama and journalists concerning Obama's claim that specific past presidents talked to enemies. Although I personally don't agree with the implied conclusion -- that talking to one's enemies is not worthwhile -- I find the piece well argued.
