A really interesting look under the hood of the GOP machine in DC. And an insightful choice of quotes. For example, though Gingrich is probably right to run up the warning flag after the two special-election losses, it is just as obvious that he's out for the press--as one other quote states. His "reform" agenda is full of tired proposals that have already been soundly rejected such as the English-only idea, or have been roundly criticized by experts like the gas tax repeal. What the author doesn't mention, but seems a clear subtext, is that it's hard to come up with a change agenda when your party has been in charge. Either you have to admit you made mistakes and are willing to move on, or blame it on the minority. The GOP has already tried the latter. It will be interesting to see if they're scared enough for the former.
