In the desert of Abu Dhabi, a novel experiment in sustainability is under way.

Over the next decade, a city of 50,000 residents will be built from scratch. And unlike any other city in the world, Masdar City will have no carbon footprint. Once it's built, the city will be powered entirely by renewable energy.

The article and radio interview are on a project in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates to build a new eco-friendly city which is supposed to leave no carbon footprint. I found that most of the information and discussion are on what the project planners said they would do, rather than, for example, on what they were likely to do or capable of achieving. There was not much in terms of context or scientific background. These could the limitation of a short story. An interesting story on a potentially important development. Some related stories with more details are attached.
