Yes, because it reveals to the public the important disarmament work that Sam Nunn has been doing. Also, it extracts the nuggets from his lengthy conversation with Arms Control Today, a publication that might intimidate many readers with its wonkish nature. The article is a bit strangely framed; Nunn as vice president is a non-starter; but reducing and eliminating the nuclear arsenals in the world is a critical topic that should get more discussion and related articles.

This opinion piece has some journalistic merit. It is largely based on an interview with former Senator Nunn. Thus there is little attempt at balance and little effort to find a range of sources. It ignores the efforts of the current administration to deal with terrorist nuclear weapons.
