This is an opinion piece that specifies actions we need to take to cope with Peak Oil. Robert Rapier attacks the three presidential candidates for proposing to lower gasoline prices, although Obama forcefully rejects it He then establishes a basic premise, that U.S. is blissfully arrogant and ignorant in believing their lifestyle must be maintained at all costs. His solution is detailed in five points, all of which seem reasonable and plausibly effective; 1. Increase CAFE standards, and offer rebates ($500 to $2000) for high fuel efficiency, and penalize low fuel efficiency vehicles. 2. "Shouldn't we also consider what happens when our "non-negotiable" way of life impacts the way of life for others worldwide?" How about when it impacts on ourselves, when our neighbour picks up his gun and comes looking for us? "It helps to enrich some countries that are hostile to us." Nothing about why they are hostile???
