Was Jeremiah Wright's speech set up by a Clinton supporter?

But now, it turns out, we should have been paying a little less attention to Wright's speech and the histrionics of his ensuing news conference and taken a peek at....who was sitting next to him at the head table for the National Press Club event. “Unrepentant,” “militant,” “histrionic.” These are terms that Andrew Malcolm uses to describe the Reverend Jeremiah Wright’s National Press Club speech and question and answer session that followed. I couldn’t help wondering if he actually heard the entire speech and the full question and answer session. I did. I’m not sure how these terms apply unless you only heard the sound clips and not the context. You may not agree with Wright, his conspiracy theories on some subjects may seem far fetched (but certainly no more so than the idea that Wright’s appearance and speech was an elaborate conspiracy by a Wright friend and Clinton supporter!), but overall he was articulate and very credible. It is true that he hammed it up a bit for the cameras during the question and answer session but then the questioner seemed at times condescending and provocative. So maybe he could have reacted better but his answers were clear and well expressed. This is the mainstream media making non issues into news at its worst and isn’t worth serious consideration. That Obama felt the need to respond at all, much less say that he was “outraged” and “saddened” by “the spectacle of what we saw yesterday” leads me to believe he only listened to sound bites and that his advisors failed him in convincing him to issue a statement. They helped keep what should be a non issue in the headlines.
