Lots of assumptions and unsupported claims in here that damage what could have been a decent opinion. The author perpetuates several falsehoods and inaccuracies about health care that have been widely disputed by conservatives and liberals. Anyone still defending Sarah Palin's death panel remark is not worth reading.

It tickles me to read someone calling the Democratic party divided when the only leg the GOP has to stand on is hysteria over health care. Indeed, the Democrats are split and they've done a disastrous job of communicating with the public -- but compare this to how disgracefully the Republicans have allowed Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin to run the party.

The left wing of the Democratic Party wants a single payer public system.

What constitutes the party’s “left wing” then? Hardly any Congressional Democrats have pushed for a single payer system. The public option is no “way station” to single payer — they’ve made this embarrassingly clear.
