This premise seems rather naive to me. Some of the most optimistic people are rather materialistic and not necessarily very happy. And what about when such optimism is entirely wrongheaded? Is delusion true happiness? If so, it doesn't seem that worthwhile. Deep happiness to me can only be premised on reality. Thus disillusion is a good thing.
