Obama's health care speech: Profiles in Cowardice

To show the degree of political cowardice that is who he is and permeates the White House, Obama, in trying to mollify Republicans of whom he is clearly afraid, is, according to an aide, going to frame his dropping of the public option as having the courage to stand up against his own party. The hostility to Obama in this opinion piece is off putting. Fundamentally, the author has a problem with Obama's tactics, and that is certainly a fair critique. However, the attacks against the President border on hateful. In this case, showing his emotions undermines the author's message.

This opinion piece is so biased it is hard to take it seriously. Even the photo is chosen to reinforce this negative attack on the President. On the other hand, if it is true that Obama is about to cave on the need for a public option he needs to be held accountable. Without a viable public option many Americans will remain uninsured regardless of what other changes are made.
