Many casualties of war go unmentioned

We just passed the grim milestone of 4,000 U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq since the invasion five years ago. Still, the death toll climbs.

Typically unmentioned alongside the count of U.S. war dead are the tens of thousands of wounded (not to mention the Iraqi dead). Tomas Young provides living evidence (if damaged evidence) of the large number of maimed soldiers beyond the 4000 American dead that seem to be all that makes the news. An interview can also be found at http://www.democracynow.org/2008/3/25/paralyzed_iraq_vet_responds_to_cheney Even Goodman neglects to mention the corresponding Iraqi injured physically and mentally (PTSD) who are getting even less care than the veterans. If there are 1.2 million Iraqi deaths, it might not be unreasonable to guess at 6 million Iraqi injured and 30% of the whole population with some degree of PTSD which is not getting professional care.
