Bush's War

(VIDEO - 4.5 hours) On one side, Secretary of State Colin Powell and Director of Central Intelligence George Tenet squared off against Vice President Dick Cheney and his longtime ally, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld. The battles were over policy -- whether to attack Iraq; the role of Iraqi exile Ahmad Chalabi; how to treat detainees; whether to seek United Nations resolutions; and the value of intelligence suggesting a connection between Saddam ... At a time when media coverage of the five year old war in Iraq is near an alltime low, Frontline deserves great credit for devoting four and a half hours to an exhaustive overview of how we got to this point, and why. Highly recommended--particularly for its detailed account of the internecine infighting within the Bush Administration in the leadup to the invasion.

Outstanding special on how the war in Iraq came about -- and how the Bush Administration promoted it to the American public. This superb documentary is an incredibly detailed and well researched account of this tragic chain of events. So many different sources and former insiders participate to this program that together they make up for the lack of interviews with Rumsfeld or Cheny, or other key protagonists from the Bush Administration. This is the first time I've given 5 stars to any story on NewsTrust, this is one of my top all-time recommendations.

This exhaustive look into the decisions that led to the Iraq War is unparalleled in it's access to key players. Frontline has managed to talk to many of the key players who were there, and often making the decisions, that led to the invasion and occupation. The narrative the story lays out is powerful and seemingly difficult to discount.

An exhaustive look at the decisions made that lead to the war in Iraq. Interviews from insiders and key sources add to credibility to the report.

The gutless telling of the story is a pap piece presenting the pomp of the perpetrators without the reasons for and the deceit involved in launching an illegal and immoral offensive preemptive invasion and occupation than killed over a million people. For a good review, see Ray McGovern's review at http://www.consortiumnews.com/2008/032608a.html

This is a promotional piece for an opinion program. There is a linked page called "Introduction" that suggests that the full program is highly biased as the Frontline series generally is. It gets off to a bad start by quoting two of the most disreputable people in Washington, Richard Armitage (who revealed Valerie Wilson's name to reporters but was too cowardly to own up when the special prosecutor started jailing them) and Richard Clarke. No indication that Saddam's record will be examined. Little journalistic merit as far as one can tell.
