Dick Cheney on Fox News Sunday And the CIA

Cheney is saying he does not object to the rogue behavior of CIA agents who went beyond their legal mandate. (In the same interview, Cheney says that the Bush Justice Department found there was nothing "improper or illegal" in this behavior, a determination that is now under review by the Obama Justice Department.) Speaking of the interrogation program as a whole, Cheney says, "It was good policy. It was properly carried out. It worked very, very well." Full Story »

The journalism exhibited in this piece strikes me as good. The reporting is succinct, the analysis of key quotes is relevant and focused. Mr. Scherer has been objective about and fair to all concerned parties.

Even President Bush said that the law must be respected. Cheney has clearly shown -- throughout his tenure -- that he sees himself and his cronies as above the law. This is how dictators behave; to have that sort of behavior from a second-in-command who then has the gall to call the subsequent scrutiny of his actions the result of political meddling is outrageous.
