Blue Dog Democrats May Give Bush Victory on Spying

If the bill is split into two pieces, conservative Blue Dog Democrats in the House could join with Republicans to pass the immunity provision, handing the Bush administration a victory while providing political cover for progressive Democrats and the Democratic leadership. The story identifies the cowardly dems who refuse to support the rule of law and the will of the public, but it does not get into the motivations of why they plan to vote so corruptly. Are they bought by the telecom lobby? Are they ill informed? Are they closet republicans?

There are 47 blue dogs. The article accounts for 21 of them. Where do the other 26 stand? Is this really a blue dog issue? I see no indication of a blue dog being contacted for their side of the story.
