Informative video from CNN's new iReport citizen journalism service. It was helpful to see this candid coverage of the Texas Caucus process, though I'm not sure if this piece gives sufficient evidence or independent perspectives to document the scope of the alleged 'double voting' practice. Nonetheless, this is an interesting example of how citizen journalism can add value to mainstream media coverage. Note that the author appears to be a professional journalist, who chose this format to contribute to the election coverage in Texas. A promising trend.

This is one perspective of one unorganized caucus. The caucus I attended was very well organized. It's not a big picture story, but one thing the piece did not mention is that the statewide Democratic Party has been begging for volunteers for weeks. It's unfortunate, but precincts without much in the way of past democratic party participation would by necessity have novices in charge. This story illustrates one of the main stumbling blocks of citizen journalism. It's a tiny piece of a huge picture.
