how can one judge the validity of the information here? assuming the numbers are fairly accurate, it seems that ethanol production is well on its way. the problem is that there's only one source here for all the pros or to discount completely the cons of its value as a primary alternative energy source, and that source appears to be quite connected with the ethanol industry. the danger ethanol poses as illustrated here, is that to invest too completely before enough options are offered may mean wasting of the resources before proven.

From Fortune 2/28/08: Cargill announces it's scrapping plans for a $200 million ethanol plant near Topeka, Kan. A judge approves the bankruptcy sale of an unfinished ethanol plant in Canton, Ill.. And that was just Tuesday. Indeed, plans for as many as 50 new ethanol plants have been shelved in recent months, as Wall Street pulls back from the sector, says Paul Ho, a Credit Suisse investment banker specializing in alternative energy.
