A short but powerful blog post about something central to the NewsTrust mission--a lack of trust in the media and its impact on our democracy. The author begins thus: "The country wants change. They want Washington to stop all the partisan bickering and they want a different tone. They want their government to be serious and deal with real problems. Can someone please explain to me how that can possibly happen until something is done about the reprehensible political press?"

This short opinion piece has no journalistic content, with no sources and ignorance of the historical perspective. The author really should read up on the history of campaigns and the press. He would find that today's press is much milder and much more focussed on major issues than in most past Presidential campaigns. If he really wants to be taken seriously he could read a little about the election of 1800 before venturing any more opinions. Any he needs to understand that the press was MUCH more partisan and made big things about matters much more trivial, to us, in the past.
