Basically this story brings to light a bipartisan coalition seeking a different solution to health care than any of the Presidential candidates. It's interesting in that it takes a critical look at the problems with employer-based insurance and with building coalitions. It brings up the interesting theory that we need for Congress to come up with a solution so they can stand behind it (and for the President to step out of the way or for it to pass by veto-proof margins--c.f. SCHIP?) From the article, I don' t know if the bill has actually been submitted. If so, a bill number would have been helpful. If not, is there a timetable? I would have liked more support for the expressed opinion that it is "more far-reaching." I would have liked to know the co-sponsors, rather than being told they are impressive. I am curious as to how this works for those who don't get $7,000 or whatever added to their paycheck because their employer is not providing health care now. How will this plan address the criticism of the amount of money drained out of actual care by insurance paperwork and marketing costs?
