Europe's electricity grids are old and often not capable of providing trans-border, much less trans-continent energy security. Yet one German energy expert has come up with a visionary scenario that would overhaul the grids, increase energy security and at the same time help avoid climate change.

Given the (long overdue) attention that climate change, clean energy and energy conservation have been gaining, I am appalled to note that the revolutionary yet viable solutions long proposed by this scientist and others have made nary a blip on the media radar. (Are Bush, Britney and Brangelina that riveting?) Not for journalists who seek to write informative articles on behalf of the public at large (IMHO). Given our collective, imperative need for such climactic climatic solutions, this article should/could have been more in-depth, for the reputable scientist involved is frequently published in both German and English. See esp.: "Global Renewable Energy Potential – Approaches to its Use" for an excellent overview of this issue: http://www.iset.uni-kassel.de/abt/w3-w/folien/magdeb030901/overview.html http://www.iset.uni-kassel.de/pls/w3isetdad/www_iset_new.main_page?p_lang=ger&p_owa_call=www_veroeff.show_veroeffdaten%3Fp_veroeff_nr=1738%26p_lang=ger gives another informative overview of the article's wind power angle... In short -- the real, gold-nugget information is still out there, but for whatever reason, this author/editor gave the story the old 'ho-hum'. Why?
