The authors of this article do an outstanding job of highlighting the absurd disgusting illegal CIA policies; this article on its face value along is fair grounds for a special prosecutor

This is indeed an eye opener if you have not been reading all the articles leading up to the appointment of a special prosecutor. The only question that comes to mind is why one was not appointed earlier, given President Obama's desire not to have this special prosecutor I am sure the Attorney General wanted to be very sure of the facts. One wonders what role Chaney had to play in this whole matter.

The attorney general’s decision, which he made despite President Obama’s oft-stated desire not to get mired in Bush-era torture disputes, was based in part of his reading of a 2004 report by the C.I.A. inspector general on the agency’s interrogations. A heavily redacted version of the report was released Monday by the Justice Department.

This is the heart of the matter, and I applaud him for going against Obama’s wishes to ignore the past and look forward.

The report also tells how a C.I.A. interrogator threatened Mr. Nashiri, by saying that if he didn’t cooperate with his captors, “we could get your mother in here” and “we can bring your family in here.”

Actions, if true, like these are what one would expect from the KGB or North Korea or China; NOT the USA.
