Interesting blog post about a controversial oil development project in Chad. However, the author appears to take sides in this story, and uses derogatory language to characterize this project, which makes me question the fairness of this report. The sourcing is primarily based on articles from AP and Reuters, and the author's own trip to Chad five years ago. Not the strongest work of journalism I've encountered today.

Brief and to-the-point critique of the World Bank's naievete vis a vis the oil pipeline in Chad. Makes one wonder if WB's judgement may be clouded by a certain kind of "white guilt" coupled with a lack of understanding of how leaders like Idriss Deby stay in power (they don't call them "warlords" for nothing.)

Silverstein muses upon the role that Big Oil and the World Bank have played in the current deteriorating situation in Chad. Seems like a plausible observation, even to the point of cliche. The writer provides some relevant links. The reader comes away hungry for a more nuanced and developed story within a larger context.
