Wake Up, Tavis Smiley

With a trailblazing African-American in the White House, why does the PBS host insist on bringing lunatics together to talk about race?

Interesting thoughts on the many weaknesses of Tavis Smiley. I agree with most of the criticism, though I appreciate his recent program on MLK, Jr.,'s anti-war speech and position. I otherwise lost faith in Tavis Smiley when he made numerous racist statements opposing inter-racial marriages on NPR years ago when he had a daytime program. The number of racially inflammatory statements on that program was incredible.

An interesting perspective which raises a lot of interesting questions regarding the author's point of view and his criticism. While he raises a lot of interesting points and certainly uses colorful and descriptive language it is hard to tell how valid his criticisms are or what his motives might be exactly. It would be very interesting to see some more perspectives from the black community on this topic.
